Lodging

The ASP has negotiated discounted conference rates with several local hotels that are within walking distance of the campus. In addition, residence halls with a meal plan are available on campus. Note that you do not register for lodgings with the ASP. You must make your own reservations for either the hotel or residence halls, following the instructions below.

When you are in Denver/Boulder, you are one mile above sea level. Hats, sunglasses, and good sunscreen should be an essential part of your luggage and you should take care to drink plenty of liquids. Those staying in the residence halls should also pack an alarm clock.

Hotels

  • Please identify yourself as an "ASP" participant when making hotel reservations.

  • The hotels do not guarantee the conference rate after June 30, 2010

  • Hotels will extend the rate up to three days before or after the conference on a space-available basis.

  • Bear in mind that the two hotels on our list are relatively small, and are likely to sell out. Make reservations early if you want their rates.

  • Those staying in the hotel are invited to have lunch on campus all three days of the meeting by purchasing a commuter lunch package. See the conference registration form to reserve this package. (Lunches on campus will not be available without advance reservation.)

The Outlook is a bit more funky and individualistic than a chain hotel, and they have a variety of different types of rooms. For an extra $10, you can request a refrigerator in your room. Also, for an extra $10, you can put one or two additional people in each room. For maximum quiet, you may want to request a room away from the indoor pool area. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance of arrival.

(The hotel also has what they call "superior" rooms for $164 per night. If you are interested in the less expensive "standard" room, you may need to specify that for the reservation agent.)

The Harvest House is a more up-scale hotel a bit further from campus (but still within walking distance.) Reservations must be secured by a valid major credit card or other deposit satisfactory to the hotel. Deposits are refundable if the Hotel receives notice of cancellation no later than 24 hours before the scheduled arrival date.

BOULDER CREEK QUALITY INN

Website

Single Queen Rooms $109.00 plus tax
1 King $109.00 plus tax
2 Queens $109.00 plus tax

The Quality Inn is a small motel on the other side of campus from our other hotels, but still within walking distance. (Some of the walk is slightly uphill.) Room fees include complimentary wireless service and continental breakfast. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in every room.

On-Campus Residence Halls

Most of the residence halls at the University of Colorado, Boulder are wonderful examples of Italian Renaissance architecture. All halls are non-smoking and, while they are not air conditioned, fans are included in our cost. (Remember that you will only be returning to the rooms in the evening.) Residence halls are coed, but wings are designated so that eight to ten rooms with same sex occupants are assigned to one communal bathroom.

Each room has two extra-long twin beds, bureaus, and desks, closets and a microwave-refrigerator system. You can either share your room with another person, or get the room to use as a single. You will receive a password upon registration that will allow you to connect your computer to the campus internet system. There are no telephones in the rooms during the summer, so you should bring a cell phone with you.

Our room and board package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner; linens and towels, plus daily housekeeping (Monday - Friday). Student staff will be on duty to check you in and out. Our basic package with arrival on Sunday, August 1 and departure on Wednesday, August 4, includes three nights lodging and includes meals from dinner on Sunday through lunch on Wednesday. (Tuesday night’s dinner is the banquet and its cost is included as well.) With such a pre-paid package, there can be no refunds for missed meals or early departures. You can pay the daily room rate (see below) if you want to arrive one or two days early or leave one day late. Please reserve campus packages by July 20, 2010.

Basic package of rooms and meals (Sunday dinner through Wednesday lunch):

Single occupancy per person including tax: $364.07
Double occupancy per person including tax: $270.03

Arriving earlier or staying later (Friday night 7/30, Saturday night 7/31, or Wednesday night 8/4)

If you are coming for the workshop or to see the Boulder area, or if you wish to leave Boulder Thursday, we offer rooms (but no food plan) for these days.

Single per person with tax per day: $66.84
Double per person with tax per day: $35.53

[Note this daily room rate is only available for Friday, Saturday, and Wednesday night. For Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights, you must use the full package of room and meals.]

Commuter Lunch Package

Those who are staying in the residence halls will have lunch together in one of the pleasant residence cafeterias on campus. Anyone staying off campus is welcome to join for lunch by purchasing the commuter lunch package for three days (August 2-4) at a total cost of $35.25 per person (including tax.) This package must be purchased in advance, so the cafeteria can plan to have enough food. (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday lunch is included)

To reserve these lunches, use the conference registration form.
