The ASP's National Programs and Partnerships Can Help You Meet Your Curriculum Goals and Improve Science Literacy

CONSULTING and PARTNERING
The ASP consults and partners with school districts on a variety of science educationrelated projects.
WHAT WE OFFER We have the resources and knowledge in place to help schools meet many of their science education needs through a number of National Networks consisting of government agencies such as NASA, major universities, community colleges, science centers and museums, observatories, and other science- and education-related regional partners.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The New Jersey Astronomy Center for Education (NJACE) at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC), a longtime partner with the ASP, recently received multiple grants to assist New Jersey school districts examine and improve an updated astronomy curriculum. "The [grant] will enable NJACE staff members to reach a greater number of school districts and provide additional hours of teacher training in astronomy education." -- Dr. Casey Crabill, RVCC President

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The ASP offers excellent professional development opportunities to classroom teachers across the nation
WHAT WE OFFER For over 15 years, Project ASTROTM, our flagship education program, has paired teachers with volunteer astronomers and trained them on how to work together to present hands-on and inquiry-based learning opportunities for students. With multiple class visits, regional support and custom-made resources, Project ASTRO has been cited as "exemplary" by the National Science Foundation.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Over 500 active Project ASTRO educator-astronomer partnerships currently bring the excitement of scientific discovery through astronomy to over 20,000 students annually. Roughly 200,000 students and 7,000 teachers have been involved in the program to date. "Project ASTRO has completely changed my attitudes toward teaching science...As a result of the program, I am working with the other grade-level teachers to revamp the whole elementary science curriculum." -- Project ASTRO Teacher, quoted in the Evaluation Report by the Institute for Learning Innovation (OVER)


COMMUNIT Y BUILDING
WHAT WE OFFER ASP programs such as the Night Sky Network, Family ASTRO and Astronomy from the Ground Up help schools get parents and the entire community more involved in their children's science education, and to spend more time together in active experiments, observations, and discussion.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FEES
The ASP can provide your school district with customized professional development for your teachers that follow science and astronomy content standards. We will develop a proposal to meet your specific needs. Factors taken into consideration when developing a budget are: Training Time: $50/hr Travel to site Materials (eg: Universe at Your Fingertips manual $39.95) Evaluation (post training surveys and analysis) Indirect Costs to the ASP
