Please pardon my ignorance of the Russian language, but in another thread at this site there was a mention of "Project Condign".

Project Condign was a study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in the United Kingdom Air Defence Region (UAP in the UKADR) carried out by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) between 1997 and 2000.

I tried to reply to the appropriate thread but it is locked for some reason, and I can't post there.

My name is Joe McGonagle, and I was part of the team that discovered the document and secured it's release under the UK Freedom of Information Act (FoIA).

Some details about the study are available at our web site, www.uk-ufo.org. Tomorrow, the MoD are releasing the full document (3 volumes and an executive summary) at the MoD site, http://tinyurl.com/p3euz.

I am sorry, my Russian language skills are zero.

The fact is that our community deals with amateur astronomy. So almost all are astronomers - some that was graduated as astronomers, and some amateurs that prefer to look at sky for their own pleasure.

I realise this. One of my colleague's who worked for the release of the condign documents is also an amateur astronomer with considerable experience (Gary Anthony, see http://www.uk-ufo.org/condign/bioga.htm).

Actually the topic that you have mentioned was loked by moderator due to a nervous situation that was formed there. May be this topic will be unlocked in a week.

Okay - I am guessing that elements of the "lunatic fringe" started to particpate on that thread. We come across that problem frequently in ufology.

So, this topic was about UFO as an object to investigate. Our community was broken into two parts - one part was for the natural origin of UFO issues and another for extraterrestrial origin of that issues.

This is one of the reasons that I think the MoD report will be of interest to astronomers. The proposed solution to unexplained UFOs is Plasma - while I think it might explain some reports, I don't think that it explains all of them.

I don't reject the extraterrestrial hypothesis, but I do think it is unlikely.

The report also mentions research into Plasma and UFOs in Russia and also encounters with UAPs/UFOs by the Russian Air Force, though it does not provide much detail.

We try to describe our position with some official documents. As for me (I am a kind of UFO-sceptic) - I am waiting for this GB Ministry of Defence document to clarify and stress the natural origin of almost all UFOs ever seen by people.

The document certainly emphasises the natural origin of reports, but in doing so, it cites poor scientific references.

So, ones more, thank you for you interest to our topic. We are very glad to receive  your UFO papers that you want do discuss. But, sorry for that - the main discussion language is Russian - not all community can read and replay in English.

Thank you Alexey. I appreciate that it is a Russian Language forum, and that people might want to comment in Russian. The main reason I created the topic was in case anyone has any questions that they would like to ask me and the rest of the team about Condign or UFOs in the UK, or the MoD attitude to the subject of UFOs/UAPs.
