Do you mean the effect of gravity , In that how long it takes for a gravitational effect to reach the object it's effecting?

I guess I am asking how fast does the effect of gravity travel.

A hypothetical scenario would be what happens if the Sun were to suddenly lose half its mass. I know this is not possible, but serves to illustrate the question. If the Sun changes mass and, thus, its gravitational pull, how long would it take for the objects in the Solar System to notice?

John
