I'm wondering if the discrepancy with the Hipparcos catalog positions is related to precession correction not being applied to the Hipparcos objects? It looks like all the Hipparcos objects have an epoch of 1991.25, and a few arc-minutes of discrepancy would be reasonable for the precession between 1991 and today.
