In the August 2013 issue of Astronomy, we printed a two-page chart of the constellation Sagittarius the Archer. On that chart, I included the locations and basics for 40 deep-sky objects. Unfortunately, I didn’t have room to go into detail about any of them. Here online, however, I have all the space I need. What follows, then, is a beefier write-up of each of the objects, in order of their right ascensions. So, print out these descriptions, and take them and the chart out to your favorite observing site this summer.
