The only total solar eclipse of 2013 will pass over the west coast of Africa on November 3 near Libreville, Gabon, one of Africa’s most prosperous cities. From the port city of Libreville, the journey continues to Marrakech, Morocco, and through the Atlas Mountains’ pine forests before descending into the valley of ancient Kasbahs and the caravan town of Quarzazate. Explore rocky landscapes and palm oases. Continue to Zagora and Erfud, which offer illuminated manuscripts on gazelle-skin parchment and extensive fossil beds and meteorites. Conclude in Fez, one of the oldest of the Imperial Cities, which sparkle with ceramics and the famous blue fez.

The tour includes:
  • 4- and 5-Star accommodations: three nights in Libreville, two nights in Marrakech, three nights in Quarzazate, one night in Erfoud, two nights in Fez
  • Tours of Libreville, Casablanca, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Zagora, Alnif, Rissani, Erfoud, and Fez
  • Distinguished lecturers: Liz Kruesi, associate editor of Astronomy magazine, and Dennis Mammana, sky photographer
  • Eclipse viewing glasses
