Cover Illustration: Two B-band images of the Phoenix dwarf galaxy at different epochs ( top), and the difference of the two using new software to register and scale the images ( bottom left) and to match their PSFs ( bottom right). In the fully matched case about a dozen Cepheid variables are readily apparent, as is one high proper-motion star just below and left of center. Figures provided by Andrew Phillips and Lindsey Davis (see their paper ).
