Join us for a talk with Emmy award winner òÀÓ weatherman Joe Rao of Hudson ValleyòÀÙs News 12. He’s also known for his research in the field of astronomy, particularly as an associate and lecturer at the Hayden planetarium and an intrepid solar eclipse chaser. In 1990 on an American Trans-Air Airline; he was able to coerce the airline to delay their flight by 41 minutes in order for the L-1011 jet to be properly positioned relative to the sunset point of that year’s total solar eclipse which was seen midway between Honolulu to San Francisco over the Pacific ocean!
Joe will discuss a most famous eclipse that occurred here in New York City 90 years ago and its connection to this yearòÀÙs solar eclipse last month where he was invited byˆàSpace.com and Natural History magazineˆàto fly out over the arctic ocean on an Airbus 330 that raced the MoonòÀÙs shadow at 41,000 feet.
Join us in talks about this famous event. We will have òÀÜsolar telescopesòÀÝ* set-up for solar viewing, weather permitting.
