Sustainable Development: Conflicts and their Solutions on Post-Soviet Space
The main objective of the Summer School ?Sustainable development: Conflicts and their Solutions on Post-Soviet Space? is to give students from the EU understanding of different conflicts on Post-Soviet space.
For this reason, we worked out an intensive educational program with huge practice component, showing the history and actual political problems. Main subjects of our summer school are:
? ?history?, historical perspective on the problem of conflict existence;
? ?culture?, traditions and differences in mentalities and ideologies of peoples in post-soviet countries;
? ?politics and geopolitics?, development of CIS, different points of view and political reasons of conflicts (including economic one) and, of course, a deeper look on all ?conflicts on post-soviet space? and ?conflict-management?.
All these modules consist of lectures, seminars and practical work, like meetings with national minority organizations or active workshops. To complete the program there will be also excursions around Kharkiv region, which are connected with topics of the modules.
Within Go East ? Summerschool program German students also can apply to German Academic Exchange Service (Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst) for scholarship. It covers living expenses, travel grants and course fees. More information about application procedure and scholarship you can find here.
Please note that applicants have to apply parallel to Summerschool to receive an admission and to DAAD for the scholarship.

ACCOMMODATION Participants of the Summer School will be accommodated in double or triple hotel rooms. Breakfast and lunch are included. CULTURAL ACTIVITIES ANDšFIELD TRIPS You will have walking trips around the city with various theme topics to choose from. Weekend day trips around Kharkov area will be included and you will be blown away by the spectacular Slavic ancient traditions that you might be part of. EXCURSIONS
CREDITS V.šN.šKarazin Kharkiv National University isšašfully accredited university inšKharkiv, Ukraine. All credits should beštransferrable towards your degree inšyour college oršuniversity. Students are encouraged tošcheck with their academic advisor and/or the Registrar?s Office tošfind out more about their school?s credit transfer policies. The programs outlines are available onšour website. V.šN.šKarazin Kharkiv National University mails official transcripts tošyour school ofšrecord upon the completion ofšthe program. Overall there will be given 5 credits for this summer school. OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM DATES OF THE PROGRAM Start date is August 14th 2016, the end of the program is August 28th 2016. Application deadline is June 5th 2016. For the short stay in Ukraine the students do not require to have a visa.
