The Psychological Counseling ofšV.šN.šKarazin Kharkiv National University was established inšSeptember 2010 byšthe order ofšthe Rector ofšV.šN.šKarazin Kharkiv National University ?š3701-1/128 dated 07.09.2010 inšaccordance with the order ofšthe Ministry ofšEducation and Science ofšUkraine ?š1248 dated 30.12.2009 ?Onšthe improvement ofšthe social-educational and psychological support ofšthe educational process inšhigher educational institutions ofšIII?IV accreditation levels?.

The main purpose ofšthe service isšpsychological support and improvement ofšeducational and scientific processes effectiveness, the protection ofšmental health and social well-being ofšstudents, teachers, researchers and other employees ofšthe University.

The main objectives ofšthe University Psychological Counseling are:

• improving psychological culture, students? stress resistance inšlearning and interpersonal communication;
• helping tošcreate favorable microclimate, overcoming conflicts inšstudent groups and teaching staff;
• preventing and eliminating problems ofšadaptation tošthe social and psychological conditions ofšlife that are constantly changing;
• psychological support and maintenance ofšthe activity ofšthe main groups ofšthe University employees;
• psychological education.

Atšthe moment Psychological Counseling provides:

• diagnosticsš? psychological examination ofšstudents, study groups and teaching staff, monitoring the contents and conditions ofšindividual development, identifying the causes that hinder the development and education;
• psychological adjustment ofšdifficulties inšstudents? communication, negative forms ofšemotional response;
• holding trainings onšthe development ofšself-confidence, effective communication skills, self-presentation etc.;
• preventive care inšteaching healthy lifestyles, maintaining mental and physical health; individual counselingš? psychological assistance for the students and employees that have
• difficulties inšstudying, are inšcrisis state.
