Karazin University held a meeting of Karazin University President Vil Bakirov with the Fulbright scholarship holders: Honorary Professor of the School of Journalism at Purdue University (Indianapolis, USA), Sherry Ricchiardi-Folwell, and the photojournalist, Frank Folwell. The event took place with the participation of Vice-President Zarif Nazyrov, the Director of the Center for International Cooperation, Oleksandr Fadieiev, and faculty of the Department of Journalism of the School of Philology.

Mr. Bakirov thanked all the guests for the participation in training students of the University, in particular for sharing their professional experience with the representatives of the School of Philology and the School of Sociology, “Media communication issues are of great importance for me. It is a huge challenge to create and develop objective and fair journalism in the Ukrainian society, but we are trying to teach future experts according to the international professional standards”.

Moreover, the University President got acquainted all the guests and participasnts with the history and majors of training at the University, whose graduates include a lot of outstanding names, in particular three Nobel Prize laureates, namely Ilya Mechnikov, Lev Landau, Simon Kuznets.

In their turn, Mr. Ricchiardi-Folwell and Mr. Folwell shared their impressions about the University focusing on students’ significant interest and involvement in joint work.

The participants also discussed the prospects of further cooperation.
