Meeting of the University Academic Board
The University Academic Board held a regular meeting opened with a minute of silence to pay tribute to the victims killed in the clashes in Kyiv on February 19-20, 2014 and made a statement as to the situation in Ukraine.
To mark the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s Birthday, the famous literary critic, Dean of the School of Philology, Professor Yurii Bezkhutryi delivered a speech about the figure of Taras Shevchenko as an artist.
The meeting heard the draft budget—2014 presented by Vice-President for Economic Affairs, Chief Accountant Volodymyr Ryshkov followed by its approval. Olena Shapovalova, Director of the Center for International Cooperation, reported on implementation of international agreements; Natalia Farafonova, Head of the Academic Affairs, presented an account of the midyear results.
The meeting also addressed recommendations of composite authors from Karazin University for the State Prize of Ukraine under the nomination “Higher Education”; appointment to the positions of faculty members and awarding of academic titles.
Among other matters under discussion, there was approval of the Accreditation file on training of Masters in the major “Applied Physics”, speciality “Biophysics”, files on expansion of the licensed volume of educational services in a number of majors and specialities of the School of Computer Sciences. The agenda also included the issue as to the opening of the new speciality “Information Technologies of Data Processing in Physics”, approval of topics of doctoral theses and appointments of academic advisers, authorization of University scientists to act as thesis supervisors for postgraduate and degree-seeking students.
Recommendations for publication were given to a number of monographs, educational aids authored by University scientists, a dictionary, compendia of scientific works, conference materials, collections of report abstracts compiled by Karazin University faculty and staff.
