Department of Surgical Diseases Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its Reestablishment

The Department of Surgical Diseases of the School of Medicine is celebrating the 20^th anniversary of its reestablishment on February 23, 2014.

The Department originates from the Surgical Clinic of the School of Medicine of Kharkiv Imperial University. The clinic where surgical diseases were taught was opened on the initiative of P. M. Shumlianskyi in 1814. The Department was headed by famous scientists, in particular, V. F. Grube, I. K. Zarubin, M. S. Subotin, A. H. Podriez, M. P. Trinkler.

At the present moment, the scientists of the Department of Surgical Diseases under the guidance of its Head, Merited Doctor of Ukraine, member of the European, Ukrainian and Russian Association of Endoscopic Surgeons, Professor Ye. D. Khvorostov are developing and introducing into clinical practice new diagnostic techniquea and treatment modes using modern minimally invasive technologies.

Let us congratulate the Department faculty and staff on the anniversary and wish them more scientific achievements that will help preserve human life and health.
