The Department dates back to the foundation of the University. At present it employs 17 lecturers, including 2 professors with doctor's degree in Economics and 8 candidates of Economic Science. The Department offers the master's degree opportunities as well as postgraduate courses. Graduates of the Department obtain profound scientific and practical training, they are set to continuously upgrade and enrich their knowledge in the process of its practical application.

Applied Statistics is one of the major degree opportunities at the University's School of Economics. The graduates can take up the following positions: economist (state statistics organs, departments, associations, enterprises, firms); specialist, junior research assistant; teacher, senior laboratory assistant, methodologist.

Accounting and audit is one of the most demanded specialities at the School of Economics. The graduates work in different branches of economy at various positions in business accounting departments, they work as financial managers in production associations, enterprises and organizations, or in audit firms and state control organs in the capacity of auditors, tax officers, etc.
