For the past years I have been working on the problem of synthesis of light curves of close binary systems, consisting of a normal star and a compact object (point object with fixed X-ray luminosity). The compact object may be surrounded by an axisymmetric disk of complicated form: it is geometrically thin around the relativistic object and geometrically thick at the edge. The disk may be round as well as elliptical. Possible existence of a bright spot on the disk's lateral surface is taken into account. In another version of the program the disk may have an thickening in the region where the gaseous stream from the normal star impacts the disk's matter. Other program used for determination of parameters of cataclysmic variables takes into account the dimensions of white dwarf and its optical luminosity. Some more simple versions of these programs may be used for interpretations of optical light curves some X-ray binary systems having an optically and geometrically thin flat disk around compact object and lying in orbital plane. Last year I have developed also a program of calculation of light curve in the model taking into account the presence of the extended shock wave along the gas stream toward the inner Lagrangian point. In this program the absence of the shock interaction between the stream of matter flowing from the inner Lagrangian point L1 and the accretion disk was take into account. The interaction between the stream and the common envelope of the system forms an extended shock wave along the edge of the stream, whose observational properties are roughly equivalent to those of a hot spot in the disk. This model best represents the gas-dynamical picture of the flow of matter in the binary system, calculated by Bisikalo and his colleagues.
Other direction of my work is collection and systematization of all information - parameters and identification charts - concerning close binary systems on late evolutionary stages - massive and low-mass X-ray binary containing a relativistic object coupled with a normal star, W Ser-type star, polars and some cataclysmic variables. The results of this work are collected in two catalogues (in russian and in english), and one atlas of finding charts (in russian), published in 1989, 1991 and 1996.
