SSRT - Scientific and technical cooperation

The amount of data acquired by the SSRT is large. All interested solar and geophysical observatories are invited to participate in the data analysis, in a further development of observing methods, programs and techniques, and in the modernization of the SSRT systems.

Work on a further development of the SSRT was done with support and participation of a number of colleagues from other organizations.

  • The time resolution of 56 ms was achieved upon creation of an acousto-optic receiving-recording system, pioneeded by Prof. N.A. Yesepkina and in collaboration with her group (SPbGTU).

  • Time resolution was improved to 14 ms by equipping the SSRT with a fast data collection system that was developed in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Physics (University of Berne). Dr. A. Magun made also his contribution to the creation of the software for data processing.

  • Over a period of years the SSRT investigators have been using aperture synthesis programs of Prof. K. Alissandrakis, a well-known expert in this field (Ioannina University, Greece).

  • Cooperative research is underway with the Astrophysical institute Potsdam (Germany), and Trieste University (Italy).

  • Cooperation with Nobeyama Observatory (Japan) is fathering momentum. Co-authored publications are ready to publication; the events recorded at both observatories are being processed with pooled efforts; exchanges of visits were organized and are being planned.
