As part of the UK and Ireland International Year of Astronomy 2009 program, the touring тАШFrom Earth to the UniverseтАЩ outdoor exhibition will be on display in the grounds of Belfast City Hall from 10th June to 17th July 2009. The goal of the exhibition is to place astronomical images in "non-traditional" locations to expose astronomy to the general public in an unexpected yet accessible manner.
The display is comprised of 25 stunning celestial images. These images have been selected to represent the wide range of telescopes and observations available in modern astronomy. They are just a small sample of the wide range of objects in the Universe. Further details of the images that will be on display can be found here.
Entrance to the exhibition in the City Hall grounds is free. The display coincides with the Belfast Carnival (formerly Lord MayorтАЩs Show) on Saturday 27th June and this year the parade will have an astronomy and space theme to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy in Northern Ireland.
