Armagh Observatory reports that October was slightly cooler and sunnier than average.

The mean monthly temperature was 9.0 degrees Celsius, that is, just over one degree cooler than normal. There were two days with air frost and eleven days with grass frost.

The total number of hours of sunshine was 117.5, that is, 40% higher than average.

Precipitation amounted to 79.3 mm, which was average for the month. Snow fell on the 28th and 29th October, the first time that there has been significant snowfall in October in Armagh since 1934, and only the fifth occasion it has occurred since 1880.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
