October Wetter and Duller

Armagh Observatory reports that October was wetter, duller and warmer than average.

Rainfall amounted to 91.5 mm (3.60 inches), that is, about 15% higher than the average monthly figure of 79.8 mm (3.14 in).

The number of hours of sunshine was 72.1, compared with the average of 83 hours.

The mean monthly temperature was 11.8 degrees Celsius (53.2 degrees Fahrenheit), considerably higher than the average value of 10.2 degrees C. The maximum temperature of the month, 18.7 degrees C (65.7 degrees F), occurred on the 27th. There were two nights with ground frost.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
