Weather in May

Armagh Observatory reports that the weather in May was wetter and slightly sunnier than average.

Rainfall amounted to 82.1 mm, that is, more than one third higher than the average April figure of 60.5 mm.

The total sunshine for the month amounted 178.4 hours, that is, slightly more than the average of 173 hours.

The mean monthly temperature was 10.6 degrees Celsius, marginally below the April average figure of 10.8 degrees. There were 7 nights with ground frost and no nights with air frost.

These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
