Weather readings from the Armagh Observatory indicate that October was cooler and much wetter than average.
October Cooler and Wetter
The mean monthly temperature was 9.1 degrees Celsius (48.4 degrees Fahrenheit), that is, 1.1 degrees C lower than the average October figure.
Sunshine amounted to 99.1hours, somewhat more than the average of 83 hours.
Rainfall amounted to 143.3 mm (5.64 inches), almost 80 percent higher than the average of 79.8 mm. This makes last month the third wettest October in the last 100 years and the sixth wettest since records began in 1838.
These data refer to observations at Armagh Observatory, which has been recording the weather at Armagh since 1795.
