According to Armagh Observatory, the total rainfall during February amounted to 2.00 inches, slightly less than the average February figure of 2.31 inches. More than half of the precipitation fell on just two days, the 23rd and 28th. Overall the month was quite mild with an average temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius (42.4 degrees Fahrenheit) compared with the mean February value of 4.2 degrees C (39.5 degrees F). However, the mild start to the month was followed by a cold spell during the second week when four nights with air frost were noted.

The amount of sunshine recorded was 62.3 hours compared with the average of 65 hours.
