Research interests

I am a voyager, journeying through the Sun trying to exploring various phenomena. At present I am exclusively looking into small-scale transients in the Solar atmosphere. These include spicules, rapid blue-shifted excursions, rapid red-shifted excursions and others we haven't yet understood. :

Spicules -

Hair-like, thin and dybnamic structures on the Sun.

The image is a sample H-alpha line wing image (data details : CRISP instrument onboard Swedish 1-meter Solar Telescope - (SST)) showing set of spicules. The white ones have more rapid appearences and disappeareances.

Some interesting movies of the features I study are : some text and some text

Ellerman bombs -

Supposedly singatures of magnetic reconnection

Solar cycle variations -

Understanding how both the hemispheres of the Sun evolve during a solar cyle and whether they are insync or offsync. The idea is to understand the asymmetries and explore the relation to solar dynamo.

Further up, I am interested in understanding how Solar Magnetic field evolves from its development at tachocline to it propagation in Solar Atmosphere. To sum it up I am on a journey to answer the questions raised by my mind:

In my free time, I am studying Spectral analysis of some features on Sun. I am also trying to understand Spectropolarimetry for analysing Solar features.
