GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

The purpose of this Grievance Procedure is to assist an Employee to raise
concerns, problems or complaints with the Employer. The Employer is
committed to dealing with all matters raised by an Employee in a fair,
consistent and speedy manner.

The Employer will initially try to resolve the grievance by informal
discussion with the Employee. If the grievance cannot be settled
informally the Employee should use the Grievance Procedure as set out
below:
Step 1
The Employee should set out the grievance in writing and send it to the
Employer.
In doing so the Employee should set out the redress being sought.
Step 2
The Employer will invite the Employee to a meeting to discuss the matter.
This meeting will take place within five working days from the date on
which the grievance is received in writing.
Following this meeting the Employer will write to the Employee setting out
proposals for the resolution of the grievance. This reply will be sent to
the Employee within ten working days from the date of the meeting. The
Employee will be informed of the right to appeal if proposed resolution is
not acceptable.
Step 3
The Employee should write to the Employer setting out the grounds for
appeal. This appeal should be received within five working days from the
date of receipt of the decision under Step 2.
The Employer will arrange for a person(s) who has had no previous
involvement in the matter to hear the Appeal. The Hearing will take place
within ten working days from the date on which the Employee's appeal was
received.
Following the Appeal Hearing the Employer will write to the Employee giving
details of the outcome of the appeal. This letter will be sent to the
Employee within ten working days from the date of the meeting to hear the
appeal.

Notes:
1. Time limits - the time limits set out in this procedure will be
strictly adhered to, and no extension will be permitted other than in very
exceptional circumstances.

2. The Employee has the right to be accompanied by either a work colleague
or by an accredited trade union official at the grievance meeting, and at
an appeal hearing. If the Employee intends to be accompanied at any
meetings under this Procedure, the Employer must be informed of the name
and status of the person who is to accompany the Employee prior to of the
date of the meeting/Appeal Hearing.
