NGC 5128!
The supernova in the NGC 5128 galaxy was seen using a 1m telescope from the Sutherland Observatory in South Africa on 21st March 2016, but only using a H-Alpha filter. There was evidence of the supernova from the use of an R-Filter, however it wasn't clear enough to pinpoint an exact location from the image to collect rough co-ordinates of the supernova. Using the B and V filters, the bright stars in the galaxy could be clearly seen, although the supernova was not visible.! !

Supernova observed through H-Alpha Filter from Sutherland Observatory

!

After receiving the images from the telescope via Las Cumbres Observatory, we then used Starlink Gaia to manipulate the images by changing contrast levels and the colour map in order to achieve the clearest possible results of the supernova. The screenshots are shown above.! The right ascension observed on the software for the supernova was 13:25:24.189 and the declination was -43:00:59.76. The approximate coordinates collected in our image were (1135.0,974.0).! ! NGC 5128 is one of the closest radio galaxies to earth. !

We are very grateful to Las Cumbres Observatory and the Faulkes Telescope Project for this observing opportunity.
