Faulkes Telescope Observations
Asteroids, comets
During our time at the observatory we booked time on a telescope in
Haleakala, Hawaii to observe several comets and asteroids, including a
near-earth asteroid BP58, which was discovered in 2009. We collected three
consecutive images of BP58 and used software called GAIA. On GAIA we overlaid
the images to see the movement of the asteroid. Once the asteroid was
recognised and, with some checks made for error, we found the Right
Ascension and Declination. We sent these results to the
Minor Planet Centre.

suspected Martian Trojan asteroid 2016 CP31
comet P/2016 BA14 (PANSTARRS)
Supernova
