Faulkes Telescope Observations
Comet C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS)
Comet C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS) on 2012 August 9th. Images obtained using
the Faulkes Telescope South, operated by Las Cumbres Observatory.
The
Faulkes Telescope Project
and
Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope
Network kindly gave us the opportunity to use the Faulkes Telescope South
in 2012 August.
We observed asteroids as well as Comet C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS). This comet is
expected to become quite bright around Feb-Apr of 2013 and indeed already
appears bright when seen through telescopes such as Faulkes.
The observations were obtained and images measured by James Hadnett during a
school work experience project at the Armagh Observatory supervised by
Apostolos Christou. The results were reported to the
Minor Planet Center.
