PhD Thesis

My thesis was completed and submitted to the Queen's University Belfast in March, 2006. The viva voce took place at Armagh Observatory on 8 May, 2006 with Coryn Bailer-Jones from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany presiding over the discussion as the external examiner. Gerry Doyle, from the Armagh Observatory, served as the internal examiner. The thesis was successfully defended, and I was recommended to the University for the PhD degree, pending completion of some amendments request by the external examiner. These amendments have been finished and approved by the examiners, and I will graduate in July, 2007.
