I felt that generally this project went well, and I am pleased with the results which were obtained. My project was concerned closely with research, which in general went well. However it was difficult to find specific information relating to fossil fuel use and emission in the UK, though easy for the USA. This meant, at times, it was assumed that fossil fuel consumption in the USA and UK were roughly the same. It was also difficult to find on the Internet information about specific cities (e.g. Armagh), but by contacting a lighting engineer this information was obtained.

One part of my project was surveying a sample of Armagh’s lights in order to obtain more precise figures for the potential benefits of changing lighting practices. If there had been more time it would have been preferable to survey the entire city, since it is not too big, but this was not possible with the time available. It would also have been interesting to look at the different mounting heights to see whether or not they were sensible, but again, there was not enough time.

I am pleased with the level of research that was done for this report, though unfortunately much of it had to be cut for the final draft. I feel that it contains the necessary information and will be informative for those who read it.
