"The Influence of the Environment on the Evolution of Protostellar Outflows"
The properties of bipolar outflows depend on the structure in the environment as well as the nature of the jet. Previous studies have investigated the influence of jet variability in strength and direction. Here, we investigate the properties pertaining to the ambient medium by executing two-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations. We inject continuous atomic jets into molecular media with density gradients and density discontinuities (thick shells). The simulations are performed with a specifically modified version of the ZEUS-3D code.
