FETTU - Page 1

тАШFrom Earth To The UniverseтАЩ (FETTU) was a special project of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy, to provide a collection of images that showcase the most dramatic views of space.

The images represent the incredible variety of astronomical objects that are known to exist: planets, stars, comets, nebulae and galaxies.

Professional astronomers created the images and presented them in more than 70 countries as part of International Year of Astronomy (IYA 2009): a global celebration of the 400th anniversary of the first use of a telescope for astronomy.

Enjoy your walk through the Universe as seen from planet Earth.

Admire its wonders and allow yourself to be fascinated by its magnificent beauty!

Many of these posters were originally created with support from the Republic of IrelandтАЩs тАШDiscover Science and EngineeringтАЩ (DSE) pro- gramme and the Armagh Observatory through grant-in-aid from the Northern Ireland Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL).

During 2010 further posters were created and the exhibition was reprinted with grant aid from the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) and support from staff at the Armagh Observatory, the Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Royal Observatory Edinburgh. The RAS and the three UK observatories all played key roles in the International Year of Astronomy.

These FETTU posters are all available for purchase, subject to demand. For more information, please contact the Armagh Observatory, College Hill, Armagh, BT61 9DG; e-mail: meb@arm.ac.uk
