During 2004, the Observatory was able to support with external PPARC funding one undergraduate on the British Council International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) programme, namely Eleanor Nolan (NUI, Galway), as well as another student (Mark Purver, University of Nottingham), working on the same project. In addition, a range of second and third-level students were supervised under the Observatory's continuing work-experience and summer student training programmes, including the Nuffield-Sentinus scheme. In total, more than 100 days of school work-experience took place, the individuals involved including Adam Moss (Mercy Secondary School, Tralee, Co. Kerry), Adam Maye (St. Patrick's Academy, Dungannon), Richard Robinson (Grosvenor Grammar School, Belfast), Ciara Quinn (The Sacred Heart Grammar School, Newry), Anne O'Leary (The Sacred Heart Grammar School, Newry), Sharon McClure (Glenlola Collegiate, Bangor), Brendan Owens (Our Lady's Grammar School, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan), Louise Jeffery (The Royal School, Armagh), and Cathal Hughes (St. Brigid's School, Armagh). The Observatory attracts young people to Armgah not just from Northern Ireland but from Britain, Ireland and sometimes farther afield.
