From: TerryMoselaol.com Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2004 18:55:34 EST Subject: NASA astronauts in Dublin, Comet Hi all, Ruth Hegarty of the RIA has informed me of this: "Science and the Technology of Space Active NASA Astronaut Cdr Scott Kelly and retired Space Shuttle Commander Brian Duffy, will be appearing in the Burke Lecture Theatre, Trinity College on Wednesday 12 January 2005 at 7.30 p.m. sharp. This unique presentation featuring spectacular footage from several Space Shuttle missions is being jointly organised by FAS, the Royal Irish Academy and The Irish Times and will be presented by Tony Gannon, Director of Education with the Florida Space Authority. Between them, Astronauts Kelly and Duffy have logged up five Space Shuttle missions, including repairs to the Hubble Telescope, retrieval and repairs to an ailing satellite, scientific research into the Sun's influence upon the Earth's atmosphere and docking with the International Space Station (ISS). In addition to narrating their missions and guiding the audience through their incredible experiences, both Astronauts will be available for Q & A sessions afterwards. The timing of the Astronauts visit to Dublin is quite fortuitous as NASA prepares for 'Return to Flight' in May '05, and FAS hosts the Opportunities and Jobs Fair at Croke Park that same week-end. Ruth Hegarty, Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2. +353 1 676 4222 Go to www.ria.ie for further information and to sign up for tickets. It will be in this Thursday's Science Page." And don't miss Comet Macholz, now visible to the uunaided eye, west of Orion - see previous emails for details. Hapy New Year to you all, Terry Moseley
