From: TerryMosel@aol.com Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 20:01:32 EDT Subject: Mars Events, McCrea Lectures Hi all: Reminders: Mars Events, Another reminder about the next IAA Mars evenings at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, Castle Espie, just South of Comber, Co Down. The next IAA "MARS & STARS" special observing & Stardome Nights will be at the WWT, 8 p.m. to late, on Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 September. Viewing with a selection of powerful telescopes, stardome planetarium shows, exhibition, a real Martian Meteorite, etc! Don't miss it! Mars will be high enough up for good viewing at a reasonable hour of the night, but even so, expect to stay to near midnight if you want the best views. Wrap up well etc! Our own 'ulsternaut' Derek Heatly will be there with his Martian meteorite, so you can hold a bit of Mars in your hand, even if clouds prevent us seeing it! He'll also be selling photos & videos of his trip to near-space, in aid of charity, so don't come with empty pockets! Please let me know by return if you intend to go, and if you are bringing a telescope, so we know what we can deliver! Thanks. 2. Tickets are still available for the "McCrea Lectures", organised by the Royal Irish Academy, to be given by Wendy Freedman, of Carnegie Obs USA, on Monday in Dublin, and Tuesday in Belfast, as already notified.
