Subject: Emails, big s'spot, Lecture, aurora?

Hi all,

1.A. Email address problems? Have you been emailing me & getting them
returned? John McConnell has been sending me emails as usual, but recently they have
been returned to him saying "Message undelivered". Yet I have been getting
emails from lots of other sources, seemingly as normal. If you have been sending
me emails, and they have been returned, please send them to my work address
Terry.Moseleynio.x.gsi.gov.uk, but only use that if you can't get me at this
address.

1.B. Similarly, if you have sent me an email which requires a reply, but
haven't got one, send it to me at my work address, just in case I haven't got it,
but you haven't received an 'undelivered' message. (I sent one to myself at
this address from my office address today, and it hasn't come, yet I didn't get
an error message at work, at least not within 10 minutes of sending it.)

1.C. Another problem! IAA members will have received our new programme card
by now. Somehow or other (not my fault, I hope), my email address on the back
has been given incorrectly; It's terrymoselaol.com

2. There's a huge new sunspot on the disc now, just coming nicely round from
the limb, already visble to the unaided eye (with filters, of course!). It's
designated AR (Active Region) 484, and might cause aurorae over the next few
days.

3. The next IAA lecture "Ireland's First Space Tourist" will be on Wed 22nd,
at 7.30 p.m. in Lecture Room 5, Stranmillis College, Belfast, when the IAA's
own 'Ulsternaut' Derek Heatly, will give his account of his amazing weightless
flights, & flight to the edge of space. He will be selling various souvenirs
of his flights such as photos & a video, in aid of Leukemia research. So do
come along, with plenty of cash.... After all, the meeting, and the refreshments,
are free, so the least you can do is to buy something to help a worthy
cause?!

4. There was a minor aurora on Sunday evening, reported by Charlie Coughlan
in Cork, and James Adamson in Mayo.

Clear Skies,

Terry Moseley
