Back-scattering ionospheric sounding data operative diagnostics

The on-line diagnostics of the SW channel characteristics operative through back-scattering ionospheric sounding (BSS) is based on adiabatic relations of diagnostic signal characteristics and channel in operation under ionospheric parameter variations (Kurkin V.I, Nosov V.E., Ponomartchuk S.N.et. al. SW radiochannel operative dignostics. //Issledovaniya po geomagnitesmu, aeronomii i phisike Solntsa. M.: Nauka, 1994. Vyp.100. P.174-196).

The SW channel characteristics calculation functional diagram from BSS data is presented in the figure. After radio path selection, the operator can select an appropriate ionogram with the sounding elevation along the radio path direction from the BSS ionograms catalogue. Long-run prediction distance-frequency characteristics (DFC) results of OS BSS are calculated preliminarily and stored in the results processing database. After the BSS ionogram processing we carry out a full BSS DFC restoration and real back-scattering modes calculation. After that, we restore real OS DFC and carry out an SW radiochannel characteristics calculation.
