Natural Satellites Service. Mutual occultations and eclipses of the major satellites of Uranus in 2006-2010

Natural Satellites Service. Special ephemerides
  Mutual occultations and eclipses
of the major satellites of Uranus
in 2006-2010

by N.Emelyanov

Topics
  • We present the ephemerides and circumstances of the mutual occultations and eclipses of the major Uranian satellites in 2006-2010.
  • Photometric observations of these events is an effective tool for obtaining new astrometric data that can help in the refinement of the theory of satellite motion.
  • The mutual occultations and eclipses of the major satellites of Uranus occur at epochs of about 4 years in duration. These epochs follow each 43 years.
  • In 2006-2010 about 190 mutual occultations and eclipses will occur. Maximum of events falls at 2007.
  • Not only predicted events but also apparent encounters of satellites (annulating events) must be observed
because these encounters predicted with a theory of a limited precision
may be real mutual occultations or eclipses.
  • The ephemerides of the mutual occultations and eclipses of the major satellites of Uranus in 2006-2010 are presented in four tables according to four periods of visibility of Uranus.

Explications to the ephemerides tables
Ephemerides :
From 2006/03/22 to 2007/02/12 (6 real events, 59 encounters)
From 2007/03/27 to 2008/02/16 (168 real events, 692 encounters)
From 2008/03/30 to 2009/02/20 (14 real events, 145 encounters)
From 2009/04/03 to 2010/02/24 (3 real events, 41 encounters)
