RTT150 project data archive

This page is a search interface through RTT150 observationsdatabase which is stored at IKI. According to the agreement between participantsof RTT150 project, observational data fully belong to the institution which hascarried out this observation for one year, are available to all three partiesinvolved (IKI, KSU and TUG) during the second year and become freely accessibleto the whole astronomical community starting two years after observation date.

Two search systems are provisioned for the navigation throughdata archive: fast search system (JavaScript based) and advanced search system(CGI-based). Both of them are working with the databses which are updated automatically as the new data arrive to archive. Fastsearch system is using the information about the most important parametersfor each observation set of every source and every calibration data. Advanced search system performs the search through the headers of all FITS files. As a result both search systems are generating thenecessary information on observations currently available in the archive as well as the direct link to the directory contating zip files with the observation data. However, these data, unlike search systems, are not freely available. To get a possibility of downloading the necessary data one should write a letter toM.Pavlinsky describing the necessity to access RTT150 data. This letter will be considered by the project management, and if the decision to approve the user's access is taken, he will be porvided with a password. That procedure doesn't apply to the parties involved in project (IKI, KSU and TUG) who will be getting access to the whole archive on a regular basis.

Data archive consists of the files with raw observational and calibration data in FITS format which are stored on the hard drive of a special server at IKI RAS. Data on the disk are separated by directories named YYYY-MM(YYYY - year, MM - month) corresponding to the dates of observation. Links from the search systems are pointing to these directories. Observational data (FITS files) are stored within corresponding directories in compressed format. There can be two kinds of data:

1. All observations of a given night (including calibration data) are packed in one file. In this case it will have a name like yyyymmdd.zip where yyyy is theyear, mm - month, dd - day of observation. The date refers to the evening of observation night, that is, for example, data on the source that was observedon Aug. 31st, 2001 at 1h, should be looked for in the file 20010830.zip. After unpacking this file by the user directory yyyymmdd is created which contains FITS files within subdirectories whose names correspond to the source names ofcalibrations.

2. Observations of the night are broken into several zip files, each of them containing data on a specific source or one series of calibrations. The name of archive will then consist of observation date together with source name likeyyyymmdd.name.zip where name refers to the source or type of calibration data (bias, dark, flat/dome).
