The Markers Menu

The left mouse button controls the creation and manipulation of region markers or cursors. (See SAOtng Regions for more information.)

Set Default Marker Shape
The following shapes are supported: When a marker type of selected, new markers of that type can be created using the left mouse button. The current default marker type is displayed below the menu. (Note that when Text is selected, a dialog box is displayed for text entry and a text marker is put up automatically. This same functionality is available using T in the image window.)

Set Default Marker Name (and Color)
Set the default region name for new markers. See Changing Region Names for more information about the region name/color mapping scheme.

Set Default Marker Color
Set the default color for new markers. Note that not all colors have corresponding region names.

Oops! Restore Deleted Marker
Recreate the last deleted marker. Useful if you are trying to delete a vertex on a polygon and accidentally delete the whole polygon instead.

Load Markers
Brings up a dialog box into which an input region file can be entered. The markers in this file will be loaded into the current frame.

Save Markers
Brings up a dialog box into which an output region file can be entered. The regions displayed in the current frame are saved (zoom 1 coordinates).

List Markers
List the region markers in the current frame. The display is created in the console window.

Refresh Markers
Redraw the region markers in the current frame. Probably not useful if the marker software is working properly!

Delete Markers
Delete all region markers in this frame.

Display Name/Color Association
Display the current region name/color mapping in the message area. See Changing Region Names for more information about region names and colors.

Edit Name/Color Association
Brings up a dialog box with associations between names and colors and allows you to edit the association. Use ^P and ^N to move between lines. A new line can be added with ^M. You can edit each line or add new lines. The available colors are the same ones displayed in the "Set Default Marker Color" menu option.

When you click OK, the association is updated and new regions will use the new association. Use either of the next 2 menu options to update the current regions.

Display Valid Marker Colors
Display the colors that you can use for markers. Currently these are: purple, yellow, blue, magenta, green, white, black, darkslategray, cyan, and red.

Update Markers to Current Colors
Process each existing marker and set its name to match the current color, if that color is in the current list of name/color associations.

Update Markers to Current Names
Process each existing marker and set its color to match its name, if that name is in the current list of name/color associations.

Display Global Fix Params For New Markers
Display the state of the fix parameters for newly created markers (unless these markers are being loaded externally and have their own fix params defined already). See Fixing/Freeing Regions for more information.

Edit Global Fix Params For New Markers Modify the state of the global fix params. A dialog box is displayed that contains the current state of these params. Edit the values in the dialog box, and press [Return] to commit changes. See Fixing/Freeing Regions for more information.

Fix Current Markers Using Global Fix Parameters
Reset the fix parameter state of currently existing markers to match the global state set by the -fix command switch or by the Edit Global Fix Params For New Markers option in the Markers menu. See Fixing/Freeing Regions for more information.

Free Current Markers
Unset all previously fixed parameters for currently existing markers. See Fixing/Freeing Regions for more information.

Toggle All Text Displays
Turn on/off the text associated with all markers. (This can be done for an individual marker using the right mouse button menu inside the marker).

Toggle All Text Backgrounds
When this state is turned on, text displays have an opaque background. When turned off, text background is clear so that the data situated underneath the text can viewed. (This can be done for an individual marker using the right mouse button menu inside the marker).

Display File Browser
Bring up the XDir program and change the template filter to "*.reg". Double click on an entry in the XDir display to have the markers contained in that file loaded.
