The SAOtng Graphical User Interface

The SAOtng Graphical User Interface

The SAOtng graphical user interface consists of menus, accelerator buttons, the image window, the panner, and the colorbar.

SAOtng Menus

The menus provide much of the functional support in SAOtng:

SAOtng Accelerator Buttons

The Accelerator command buttons located on the left side of the SAOtng GUI provide a quick means of executing common menu options. A default set of accelerator commands is supplied with the program, but these accelerator buttons can be configured by the user. See Accelerator Buttons in SAOtng.

The Image Display Window

The image display window is the heart of the SAOtng user interface. Images are displayed in this window. Interactive operations such as region marker creation, colormaps modification, etc. are performed in this window using the mouse. For more information, select on the the following:

The SAOtng Panner

The Panner window provides a visual representation of the section of the image being displayed in the current frame, relative to the image (section) being maintained in SAOtng`s memory. The pan window shows the entire area of the loaded image. A cyan box cursor in the pan window shows the area of the image currently being displayed in the main display window. The image section being displayed can be changed by various means, including manipulation of the panner or use of the Zoom menu. For more information, see Panning and Zooming.

The SAOtng Colorbar

The colorbar displays the relative mapping between color and intensity in the image. The intensity scale goes from 0 to 200. The actual scale values for a few points are displayed numerically under the colorbar.)

The XImtool Control Panel

The Control Panel was originally developed by NOAO for ximtool. We offer a modified version that provides similar functionality to various menu options but also provides some additional functions.
