The history of recent commands can be edited using the command ehist. This is useful when using long commands, each only slightly different from the previous one. The editor is set in the login.cl file or in the loginuser.cl file.
cl > ehist # Calls the last command # and leaves you in the editor # <cr> executes the command once you have edited it. cl > ehist imcnts # calls for editing (as above) the most recent # command beginning with ``imcnts''.
Once in the editor you can step backwards/forwards through the history as when editing a text file.
Xwindows
Mouse buttons can be used to copy text. The cursor shows the location of the next command. With the mouse, move the cursor to the desired text. Highlight the text by left click and drag. A middle click will deposit the highlighted text at the current prompt position.
Sunview
Text can be copied in sunview by marking the beginning and end with the left and middle mouse buttons respectively. The text is now in the ``stuff'' buffer and can be ``stuffed'' to any window at the current prompt position by clicking on the right mouse button inside that window and selecting stuff.
