There is a hidden parameter in fit that controls the amount of output sent to the screen. By setting verbose=yes the results from each individual iteration of the fit will appear on the screen. The output will have the number of the iteration, the chi-square value, and the free parameters (including the normalization factor calculated after the fit to reduce the total chi-square).
