This is an Invited Paper at the European Turbulence Conference VI, Lausanne (Switzerland) July 3-7, 1996.
In this paper, we review recent progress in the eduction of coherent structures from turbulent mixing layers. Applications of the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition and Wavelet Filtering to modeling and control are discussed.
