This is the OS/2 FTP archive at ftp.leo.org (ftp.informatik.tu-muenchen.de).
The root of the archive is at /pub/comp/os/os2/leo on this site.

It is also accessible through a more human-friendly HTML interface at
http://www.leo.org/archiv/os2/ via the World Wide Web.

Maintainer: Kai Uwe Rommel

Send complaints etc. suggestions etc. via electronic mail to
os2@leo.org. For uploads see below.

The files in the root directory are:

00-readme this file
00-mirrors list of mirror sites of this archive section
00-files the index of all files of the directory tree
00-history cronological history of additions to the archive
00-last-50-uploads history of the last 50 uploads

There are HTML versions of some of these files as well.

In each directory of the tree, there are:

00-index index of files in that directory
00-index.html the same in HTML format (for access with WWW browsers)

There is also a file 02-emx-runtime.zip in the root directory (where
this file is located too) which contains a runtime version of the emx
environment. This is required for many programs in this archive because
they were created with the emx enviroment. Similarly, there is
02-vxrexx-runtime.zip, containing the runtime DLL for Watcom VX-REXX.
See 01-runtime.doc for details.

All files are packed into ZIP archives. Current versions of Info-ZIP's
unzip and zip programs as well as other archivers are in the archiver
subdirectory. Occasionally, files are stored as IBM disk images. The
program required to unpack onto floppies, loaddskf.exe, can be found in
systools/loaddf.zip.

If you have submissions to be included in the archive, please upload
them to /incoming/os2, the maintainer will be notified automatically.
Please include a descriptive text with the files. However, there is no
guarantee that your files will show up in the archive, some selection
needs to be made due to space restrictions. If you have problems
uploading files, try again at ftp.informatik.tu-muenchen.de instead of
ftp.leo.org (which is an alias for multiple servers). If you have any
other comments related to file uploads, send mail to .

DO NOT SEND ANY SUBMISSIONS AS FILE ATTACHMENTS TO ELECTRONIC MAIL
MESSAGES, ONLY USE FTP FOR SUBMISSIONS. The OS/2 archive is maintained
by volunteers who donate their spare time and dialin phone costs
needed to do their work. So please don't abuse them.

This was the announcement sent to comp.os.os.announce:
Subject: new FTP site in Germany

A new OS/2 anonymous FTP site is available in Munich, Germany:

Name: ftp.informatik.tu-muenchen.de
Directory: /pub/comp/os/os2

The OS/2 archive on this site is maintained by Kai Uwe Rommel
(rommel@informatik.tu-muenchen.de). Please send problem reports or
suggestions to this address or os2@informatik.tu-muenchen.de.

This site will not be yet another mirror of ftp-os2.nmsu.edu nor will
it generally accept uploads. It is intended to hold a selection of the
most important software and to specialize in a few areas. The space is
limited and does not allow growing of the archive. Instead, old
versions will be deleted so that only an up to date selection of the
most popular software will be online. This will make it easier to find
important packages quickly, without wading through large directory
trees. For a more complete archive, sites like ftp-os2.nmsu.edu or
ftp.luth.se are already available.

The areas available are:

- all kinds of GNU software ported to OS/2, including the gcc ports
called "emx" and "gcc/2" and Emacs
- some other ported Unix software
- emTeX and related software
- communication software (uupc, mail, news, remote access,
terminal emulation)
- tape software (GTAK)
- editors
- command line shells
- selected PM/WPS or VIO utilities
- file archiver/compression programs, especially Info-ZIP's zip and
unzip programs in versions capable of encryption (since this site is
outside the US)
- other encryption software, e.g. Philip Zimmermann's PGP or
the GNU ufc (ultra-fast crypt) library
- bug fixes for IBM C Set/2 and WorkFrame/2
- bug fixes for IBM TCP/IP and add-on software for it
- selected OS/2 2.x bug fixes
- rich selection of OS/2 2.x device drivers (video, disk, cdrom etc.)

For all software I am working on myself or I am participating in
(C-Kermit, elm, GTAK, zip/unzip and much other GNU software for OS/2),
this will be the primary distribution point, i.e. newest versions will
be here first. Other sites are invited to mirror this archive, to keep
their versions of these packages up to date. Please contact me if you
want to mirror this site (see address above).

Please do not upload files like you do upload to ftp-os2. Instead, if
you think you have (or know of) a package such as a port of a GNU
tool not yet ported to OS/2 or a substantially better one that you
think should be added to the archive, please send mail to me.
