I have been beta testing the DB50XG and since they just starting shipping it .... It is a great sounding card, easy to install and like most daughter cards, no additional software is necessary. IMHO the best thing about the DB50XG is the sound (especially the guitars and classical instruments) AND that it is based on new technology AND is compatible with GM and GS - although Yamaha won't admit the GS part - I guess some kind of competitive thing. All I know is that my GS based songs, sound great on the DB50XG! If your into making music, you'll love the additional voices, effects and control. If your into games - the GM/GS compatibility insures that what ever game you play will just plain sound better - as long as the game uses general midi that is - even Yamaha can't make FM based games sound any better than they are! Pricing I understand is a little cheaper (~$200.00 US) than the Roland. So, I guess all in all, I would say that the Yamaha DB50XG would be the better buy. - ST Always Sun Tzu Disorder arises from order, cowardices arises from courage, weakness arises from strength
