USING NEW NANO-SATELLITES FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Sedykh O.U.,

Search for economically efficient options in creating research satellites are aimed at simultaneous satellites weight and size reduction and at their service life expansion. The experience of space mini-laboratories both active Kolibri-2000 , Mozhaets-4 , Universitetski-Tatyana and being created Kompas-2 , Chibis demonstrated thС trend to a sharp project budget reduction with the simultaneous information demand increase. It is possible only if nano-satellite technologies are applied. Application of high-efficiency photocells, new radio-engineering developments, digital signal processing technologies enables piggy-back launching 5-20-kg satellites. Launch cost reduction, use of ready-made optimum options and service bus cost enables creating one-experiment satellites selecting the required satellite configuration on construction-set principle. For example, now a research satellite with the following performance specifications is feasible: Weight 10 25 kg, including research equipment - 2 8 kg. (Depending on the actual objective). Average power-consumption 30 W. Peak power-consumption 60 W. Maximum solar battery generated power 60 W. Battery capacity 5.8 Ah, LiIon. On-board power voltage 10.0 14.3 V. Attitude determination three-axis, attitude determination accuracy - 0.5 degrees, stabilization accuracy 0.05 deg/s, rotations in three axes in inertial co-ordinate system. Service radio-link 145/435 MHz, 1200/9600 bps. Mission radio-link 8192 MHz, 32 Mbps. Maximum service equipment power 9 W. Average service equipment power-consumption 6 W. Hot ammonia on-board propulsion system may be installed for orbital correction. Therefore, it is appropriate to create a joint research programme for annual launches of Russian university community research and educational satellites based on nano-technologies and low-budget launches for holding on-going research.
