In Spectroscopy mode the two channels at the trans-node boundary of each chip are marked as bad, for reasons explained above. For completely unrelated reasons, these channels are likely to contain spurious events and it is therefore well, in general, that they are discarded. Still the user might reasonably prefer to use these channels when conditions are favorable, and this task should not be getting in the way.
