SCI Flash Report: SWSP Safemode Status Briefing: HSTAR 13601

A Software Sun Point (SWSP) Safemode Status Briefing was held on Friday
February 15th 2013 to review the safemode event that was experienced at
046/08:11:37. The observatory is currently operating nominally in +V3
SWSP. The team concluded that the SWSP entry was caused by the solar
array command profile test failing due to an overshoot of the +wing by 10.7?
relative to the commanded position, exceeding the 10? threshold. Details
are included within the briefing package. There is immediate no health
and safety concern. This is the eighth SADE slew anomaly of this type,
the third with SADE 2-R. The belief is that all are radiation/EMI induced
and are not permanent. As in previous events, a SADE on-orbit test will
be conducted prior to resumption of the nominal science observation
program. The following information summarizes the anomaly briefing:

1. Updates to Presentation:

No changes were made to the presentation posted to the Anomaly Briefings
web page on the Systems Management SharePoint
site: http://edocs.hst.nasa.gov/hstsysman/Briefings/AnomalyBriefs.aspx.

2. Action Items:

Action 1 ? Setup a meeting to discuss STIS recovery steps.
Assigned: O. Lupie Status: Open Required by: Feb-15

Action 2 ? Conduct a script review for the SADE commanding VEST test.
Assigned: S. Bozievich Status: Open Required by: Feb-15

Action 3 ? Conduct a review of the redlined safemode recovery procedure.
Assigned: Stan Status: Open Required by: Feb-15

3. Waiver Approvals:

None.

4. Discussion/Agreements:

The team agreed to perform a SADE on-orbit test prior to resumption of the
nominal science observation program. The forward plan is as follows:

? The STScI will deliver a H&S SMS this afternoon prior to 21:00 UTC
(4 pm. EST) having a start time of 23:00 UTC (6 pm. EST).
o PCS will provide the STScI the starting attitude via email.
? The redlined safemode recovery procedure will be reviewed by the
team at 16:00 UTC (11 am. EST)
o The anomaly call-in number and a webex session will be used for remote
participants.
? A VEST test of the SADE commanding will be performed this
afternoon in preparation for the on-orbit SADE test to be executed
tomorrow morning.
o The on-orbit test will be completed before 17:00 UTC (12 noon EST).
? The STScI will be notified of the ?GO?to transition to science
following a successful SADE on-orbit test
o The intercept time of the science SMS is currently TBD.
? STIS recovery steps may be modified as there had been an on-going
MAMA observation time stamp anomaly.

The Key Monitors (KMs) are currently configured to issue only event
messages and no pages via TelAlert. The FOT and SEs will staff through 9
pm and will resume staffing at 8:30 am. The KMs will be configured to
issue alerts during the overnight unstaffed period.
