NICMOS Reference File Tables

NICMOS Bad Pixel Masks (MSK)

These files are for masking bad and grot pixels. The bad pixels may be either cold or hot. The cold pixels contain pixels that do not respond to incoming photons (dead pixels), those with low responsivity and grot (small areas of reduced sensitivity, most likely due to flecks of anti-reflective paint which were scraped off the optical baffles between the dewar shells as they were forced against each other by the solid nitrogen cryogen expansion). Put this file in the MASKFILE header keyword for calibration. These are incorporated into the DQ array by calnica.

NICMOS Read Noise Files (NOI)

Put this file in the header keyword NOISFILE for calibration. The noise file contains the readout noise for each pixel as the 1 standard deviation noise level in electrons. Reference files for both FAST and SLOW readout modes are supported.

NICMOS Darks (DRK)

Dark current reference files. Put this file in the DARKFILE header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Temperature Dependent Darks (TDD)

NICMOS temperature dependent dark reference files. Put this file in the TEMPFILE header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Linearity Correction Files (LIN)

This file is used for correcting the integrated counts in the science image for the non-linear response of the detectors and it also contains the saturation limits for each pixel in the array. Put this file in the NLINFILE header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Flat Fields (FLT)

Static flatfield reference files. Put this file in the FLATFILE header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Temperature Dependent Flat Fields (TDF)

Temperature dependent flatfield reference files. Put this file in the TDFFILE header keyword for recalibration.

NICMOS Background Illumination Pattern Files (ILM)

List of background illumination pattern reference files. They are given by the keyword 'ILLMFILE'. These are dummy files and have no effect on the data but are required for calnicb processing to proceed.

NICMOS Photometric Calibration Tables (PHT)

These are binary tables containing the photometry parameters for all observation modes. Put this file in the PHOTTAB header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Geometric Distortion Coefficients Table (IDC)

These files are used for correcting geometric distortion of image mode data. They are used for drizzle processing and are not currently part of calnica or calnicb. Put this file in the IDCTAB header keyword for multidrizzle processing.

NICMOS Persistence Model Files (PMD)

This is the ring median of the BEP (Bright earth persistence) image derived from combining 10 BEP-impacted visits from the SHOES program after removal of sources using a matching non-BEP-impacted visit. Put this file in the 'PMODFILE' header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Persistence Mask Files (PMK)

This image is the combination of the standard NICMOS bad pixel list with the 35x35 in the corners (to avoid amp glow) and individual source pixels identified. Put this file in the 'PMSKFILE' header keyword for calibration.

NICMOS Nonlinearity Power Law Tables (NLC)

The power law slope of count rate non-linearity at a number of wavelengths. Put this file in header keyword 'RNLCORTB' for calibration.

NICMOS Nonlincor zeropoint scaling table (ZPR)

This file contains for each filter the ratio in zero point count rate before and after applying rnlincor when rnlincor is normalized at 1 ADU/s, which is used to ensure that the zero points do not change after applying rnlincor. Put this file in the header keyword 'ZPRATAB' for calibration.

NICMOS Special Darks for processing by SAACLEAN (SDK)

These are '256s NREAD=25 ACCUM mode' darks used by saaclean, one per camera. Put this file in the SAADFILE header keyword or it can be stored in the directory specified by 'darkpath' parameter in the task 'SAACLEAN'.
